The add-on added a little new story to the game. In it, Gage and Exton, the Vault Hunters from Borderlands 2 who brought Aurelia Hammerlock to Pandora, skip Athena´s interrogation and ask the latter to retell everything in a condensed way.

A new arena for testing characters has been added - the Holo Dome. It will have to fight with waves of reckless opponents, as well as with some bosses. The player can obtain new weapons, class mods, and character heads and skins, both as loot and as quest rewards.

Increased character level cap by 10 (from level 50 to level 60), which means 10 extra skill points.

In addition, all players in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are getting a free patch that adds a third playthrough - the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode with more difficult opponents and the ability to reset campaign progress at any time.
